PEG Program Overview:

The biggest initiative of ASL GOLF is the Physical Education Golf (PEG) Program. Residential Deaf Schools always hope to bring new and exciting experiences to the students via their physical education programs. The “P.E.G” Program is designed to introduce the game of golf into the PE programs and meet the goal of offering a new opportunity never before offered to the deaf. Using FREE special Sign Language instruction packages, and FREE SNAG golf equipment, this program partners with the comprehensive instruction package offered at the United States Deaf Golf Camps. These programs impact all students at every level teaching them:

Proper Fundamentals
Structured Mechanics
Logical and Sequential Learning
Golf Etiquette
Playing the Game
Life Training Applications
Academic Education

The teaching program is innovative in numerous ways: it is completely visual and tactile which helps the deaf students learn at a faster rate, the program uses the layered teaching approach which reinforces each lessons vital components, life skill lessons are taught that help to make the individual more confident and self assured as they mature, and finally, academic training takes place through the inherent concepts native to the game of golf and through our corporate partners. All of the above make this a truly unique educational and athletic program for the deaf youth of America.

Through our corporate partners, the PEG Program, using golf as the conduit, gives the deaf youth of America academic training they do not normally have access to in their classrooms.

Economics Pennsylvania provides basic economic training through their fun booklets.  This gives deaf kids the same information their hearing counterparts are getting on a daily basis in listening to other people talk about money and how to make money.

The Stock Market Game is a school based competition where teams of students compete against other schools in their state and nationally.  Each state also competes against other states.  The teams are given and imaginary portfolio of $100,000 and must manage their stocks and gain or lose according to current market trends.  This program gives deaf youth an understanding of the market and how to grow money through investment strategy.

Campus Door is a group that helps to educate students on how they can continue their education well past high school.  Their DVD (which is going to be closed captioned and maybe signed) explains how to get student loans, grants, and other monies that will enable students that think they can never go to college to understand that the funds are available for them to go to Gallaudet or any school where they can gain admission.

The last of our corporate partners is eDimples.  This new golf company is our etiquette and information teaching program.  Their 3 levels match the first 3 levels of the PEG Program perfectly.  By using their materials, deaf youth have a fun and informative experience learning the key words, rules and behaviors of golf.
